The Artist.

This past weekend my mom was in town so we decided to go see
Michel Hazanavicius' charming homage to the early days of cinema, The Artist.
We had been DYING to see it ever since it came out and had heard amazing things about it, so we were very excited to see it together!

It was truly glorious in the purest form.
I found myself laughing and crying all at the same time.
There was so much passion, glam, and culture in the 20's... all of which were expressed in this silent film.
It may be something less than a great movie, but it is an irresistible reminder of nearly everything that makes a movie great.

Midnight in Paris.

Tonight I saw one of my new favorite movies, Midnight in Paris.
I was so excited when I saw that Owen Wilson and Rachel McAdams were in it, and even more excited when I saw that Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 92%. I wasn't sure what to expect since it is a "comedy" set in Paris, but it exceeded way over my expectations and I fell in love with Paris all over again.

After the movie, I had the chance to walk around the city and think about all of the memories I've had traveling, especially abroad.
I couldn't help but think of how about this time last year, I was exploring Paris with a great group of girls.
I thought of the times we went to the Musee Rodin, Musee du Louvre, and Musee D'Orsay all in one day.
And the time we decided to stop at Angelina's for hot chocolate and pastries.
And when we shopped down the Champs Elysees.
And for the many yummy crepes and baguettes we ate.
And when we sat in front of the Eiffel Tower one evening and watched the fireworks go off for Bastille Day.
And when we ate the most divine meal at Cafe Constance.

It truly was all a dream.

There is something about being somewhere foreign that makes me flourish.
The people, the language, the culture... I crave it all.
Traveling has made me appreciate the small things in life, and the things that matter most.
It has taught me to embrace those who you love, and love those who are different.
I've learned that time is everything, and to never take it for granted.

I feel so blessed to be living in New York for the summer, and hope to live it as though I was "abroad."
My mom always tells me that I am "such a city girl," but I think she is wrong...
I'm just a girl who loves to explore the world for what it is and what it can become.

Meet Me In St. Louis.

This weekend I watched one of my favorite movies to watch this time of year...
Meet Me In St. Louis
Judy Garland just amazes me in this movie.

Especially when she sings my favorite Christmas song,

Growing up, my sister would always tell me that she was Judy Garland and I was "Tootie" Smith... (the annoying little sister). I guess since I would always pull off her barbie's heads, and wear her clothes it made perfect sense for why I was "Tootie."
Nevertheless, it has been a tradition for us to watch this movie together around Thanksgiving.
Even though she is in Denver and I am in good ol' Provo, I still love to watch it.
It makes me laugh, smile, and cry...
And most of all, it gets me excited for Christmas and what lies ahead.

Eat, Pray, Love.

One of my favorite things about summer is that I get to read books that I actually want to read!

I am currently reading Eat Pray Love, and I'll be honest, I am sorta having a love hate relationship with  it.
BUT, I am determined to finish it asap since the movie just came out last Friday.
I'm not sure if I am just obsessed with the trailer or the fact that Julia Roberts is in it, but I am in love and so excited to see it!

Let me know if you want to join :)
